Welcome to the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas Regional Community of North Carolina home page. The Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina, located in Belmont, NC, near Charlotte, can be distinguished from other vowed Catholic women religious by our fourth vow of service. We minister in pastoral care, healthcare, canon law, social work, education, art, music, and bereavement. In addition, our ministries provide transitional housing & services for those with AIDS, homeless women and children and those with significant mental retardation who are also physically fragile. We offer spiritual companionship and support our mission through scholarships provided by Mercy Action Marianas as well as the Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation, Inc., which has awarded 582 grants totaling more than $26 million to organizations serving unserved or underserved populations. We have recently joined with the regional communities of Baltimore, Jamaica/Cincinnati & St. Louis to number 829 sisters, many of whom serve in Southeast & Southwest areas, as well as in foreign countries and in U.S. territories. We are part of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and are globally aligned with other Institutes of Sisters of Mercy worldwide.
