Catherine's Cause for
Canonization According to Sister Ethel M. Bignell, Executive Director MIA, Aotearoa, New Zealand, there have been many inquiries about Catherine McAuley's cause for canonization. As a result, in May 2003, MIA Members decided to approach the task with a sense of urgency. They endorsed a move by the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy to appoint Sister Anne Hannon (Ireland) as liaison person for the process. In doing so they were conscious that from many walks of life and from many parts of the globe, people whose lives have been touched by the story of Catherine have been expressing a wish that she be recognized as a saint. Sister Anne Hannon has been officially appointed Vice-Postulator for the cause of Catherine McAuley and, as such, is charged with promoting awareness of the life, vision and virtues of Catherine among members of the Mercy Congregation throughout the world as well as within the international public sector. She is happy to respond to any contributions or queries and requests any information regarding medically-attested attribution of miracles which may promote the cause of Catherine McAuley. If you wish to contact Sister Anne, the details follows:
