Sacred Heart College, Alumni, Sisters of MercyThe Sisters of Mercy Regional Community of North Carolina have over the years developed bonds with the Order of St. Benedict as well as the college they sponsor. When Sacred Heart College closed in August of 1987, the highly regarded Education Department of the school was absorbed by Belmont Abbey College and continues today bearing the name of the late Sister Mary Christine Beck, RSM, a member of the Sisters of Mercy, in honor of her enormous contributions to its curriculum. In addition, our alumni list is maintained by the college. Due to these close ties with Belmont Abbey College, we try to organize at least one Sacred Heart College event around their homecoming weekend, this year scheduled for Oct. 8-10, 2005.

We always look forward to seeing our Sacred Heart Alumnae during the Belmont Abbey Homecoming weekend! This year we plan to host the  annual Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Bazaar, held in Curtin Hall in Mercy Administration Center, and the annual Yard Sale, held on the first floor of McCarthy Spirituality Center (formerly the McCarthy library and the Belmont YMCA location) on Oct. 8, 2005. Doors open at the Yard Sale at 9 a.m.. and we hope that you'll come and enjoy both of these special events. Find great buys on office & medical equipment, kitchen items, baby, children's and adult clothing, furniture, and exercise equipment, etc.

The Sisters of Mercy Regional Community of North Carolina Bazaar which opens at 10 a.m. features crafts, Christmas gift and decorative items of the highest quality to include hand-crafted bead and sterling silver jewelry designed and created by Sister Soledad Aguilo, RSM, as well as decorative items made by the senior sisters. Look for Sister Alma Pangelinan's relishes, Lebanese pastry treats, nuts, cakes, rolls, jellies, jams and lots of other goodies. Don't forget to enjoy one or more of our famous footlong hot dogs while you browse at the Bazaar. The annual raffle will also be held with first, second and third place winners receiving $1000, $500 and $250 respectively. We hope you will come and join in the fun at the bazaar and yard sale before the luncheon, after the luncheon...or both!
